Meet Jim Bartle

Jim runs an organization called JC Epidemic. Their motto is "Living the Kingdom Dream". An excerpt from their website says :

"Our goal is to influence the young people of our nation into making positive life choices and ultimately to see the kingdom furthered. We aim to "live this kingdom dream" by setting an example that emulates Christ and his love. We see x-treme sports as a way of grabbing the attention of this nation's somewhat frustrated youth. JC Epidemic desires to mix the love of Christ and x-treme sports to change our nation & beyond."

Saturday the JC Epidemic guys were apart of an event I was shooting called Shift, which was hosted by a local church for any and all local youth with the goal of reaching out to the community. There were over 1500 kids that showed up and got to see an excellent display of skill by the BMX and FMX (freestyle motocross) riders. There were also several bands and other events on the night but the big show was the FMX demo towards the end of the night.

The final trick of the night was much anticipated as the rider wrecked in practice attempting the backflip off the 75 ft jump from his motor bike before the event started. They MC said a prayer for the rider and off her went.

The flip was almost a success when the rider landed the jump, but hit low on the ramp causeing him to mash the accellerator and loose control off the landing. There was not enough room on the sides of the lot to allow for correction and he smashed right into a fence, and part of the church building.I was on the roof photographing the jump so this is what I saw. He was sent off his bike and slid across the concrete, fence, curb, and garden and his bike smashed into the wall.

This is the fence he hit which threw him off the bikeand probably saved him from worse injuries hitting the wall.
After he fall off he and his bike skid across the bricks knocking off the mortared on caps.

Even after all this damage, he got up and limped off on his own power with only a cut under his eye and a few bad bruises. It was a remarkable feet though as only a handful of guys in the world can do the trick
